Lirics Content

This song was created with lyrics by Masayoshi Ueno and composition by Masayoshi Takanaka, a leading guitarist in Japan.

The combination of Masayoshi Ueno’s lyrics and Masayoshi Takanaka’s rock composition definitely creates a memorable and impactful song.

The lyrics feature a strong-willed and slightly rebellious girl challenging her younger, perhaps more dependent lover, urging him to lead her in a manly way rather than just talking about it.

Akina Nakamori’s assertive and powerful vocal and the rock style, with its energetic guitar riffs and commanding rhythmdelivery perfectly matches the song’s style, making it quite impressive.

Overview

In 1981, Akina Nakamori passed a television audition program, “Star Tanjou!” (Star Birth!), and made her debut with the single “Slow Motion” in 1982.

She went on to achieve successive hits with songs like “Shojo A,” “Second Love,” “North Wing,” and “Kazari Janai no yo Namida wa.”

In 1985, she won the Japan Record Award for two consecutive years with “Mi Amore” and in 1986 with “DESIRE -Jounetsu-.”

Although she took a break from October 2010 due to health issues, she continued her music career at a controlled pace, appearing as a special guest at the 65th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen in 2014 and releasing a cover album, “Utahime 4 – My Eggs Benedict.”

As a fan, I hope she doesn’t overexert herself and occasionally blesses us with her mature songs.

What I love most about Akina is the passion I feel in her singing.
It truly feels like her soul is embedded in every song.

At times, that soulfulness seems so poignant and sad that it reaches out and touches the listener. I believe she channels the cries of her soul into her music.

She is truly an amazing singer and artist.
