Lyrics Content

The lyrics and composition of this song are by Yosui Inoue, a leading singer-songwriter in Japan. It is one of Akina Nakamori’s representative songs, ranking third in sales after “Second Love” and “Mi Amoré.”

The lyrics describe a tough girl who, even when faced with frightening experiences like being in a speeding car through the night or parting with friends, does not cry.

She seems to convey that tears are reserved for moments of true love and should not be shed lightly.

The song fits her slightly rebellious and strong-willed image perfectly, making it a very cool track.

Overview

In 1981, Akina Nakamori passed a television audition program, “Star Tanjou!” (Star Birth!), and made her debut with the single “Slow Motion” in 1982.

She went on to achieve successive hits with songs like “Shojo A,” “Second Love,” “North Wing,” and “Kazari Janai no yo Namida wa.”

In 1985, she won the Japan Record Award for two consecutive years with “Mi Amore” and in 1986 with “DESIRE -Jounetsu-.”

Although she took a break from October 2010 due to health issues, she continued her music career at a controlled pace, appearing as a special guest at the 65th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen in 2014 and releasing a cover album, “Utahime 4 – My Eggs Benedict.”

As a fan, I hope she doesn’t overexert herself and occasionally blesses us with her mature songs.

What I love most about Akina is the passion I feel in her singing.
It truly feels like her soul is embedded in every song.

At times, that soulfulness seems so poignant and sad that it reaches out and touches the listener. I believe she channels the cries of her soul into her music.

She is truly an amazing singer and artist.
