Lyric Content

This song was suggested by Tokiko Kato after she saw Akina Nakamori on television and felt that her presence matched the atmosphere of the song.

Indeed, Nakamori’s performance draws listeners deeply into the world of the song.

Looking at the lyrics, they express sentiments like,
“It’s just losing love, just a broken heart,” and “Even though I understand in my head that finding a new love would solve it, I sink deep into the sea like a shipwreck after losing you, never able to rise again,” conveying the despair of a woman experiencing a broken heart.

Is it just me, or does listening to her rendition of “Nanpasen” truly bring tears to one’s eyes?

Overview

In 1981, Akina Nakamori passed a television audition program, “Star Tanjou!” (Star Birth!), and made her debut with the single “Slow Motion” in 1982.

She went on to achieve successive hits with songs like “Shojo A,” “Second Love,” “North Wing,” and “Kazari Janai no yo Namida wa.”

In 1985, she won the Japan Record Award for two consecutive years with “Mi Amore” and in 1986 with “DESIRE -Jounetsu-.”

Although she took a break from October 2010 due to health issues, she continued her music career at a controlled pace, appearing as a special guest at the 65th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen in 2014 and releasing a cover album, “Utahime 4 – My Eggs Benedict.”

As a fan, I hope she doesn’t overexert herself and occasionally blesses us with her mature songs.

What I love most about Akina is the passion I feel in her singing.
It truly feels like her soul is embedded in every song.

At times, that soulfulness seems so poignant and sad that it reaches out and touches the listener. I believe she channels the cries of her soul into her music.

She is truly an amazing singer and artist.
